The SEAL™ Boats Story

My name is Jordy Anderson. Back in 1997, I founded SEAL™ USA because I had a potentially serious situation with an inflatable. Frankly, I was already tired of replacing my inflatable's every few years but when this happened, I decided I'd had enough. So I decided to design and build one of the safest boats
on the market, SEAL™ Boats.

Deflated About Inflatable's

Perhaps like you, I was once a huge fan of inflatable boats. In fact, back in the 80's, I explored almost every major river and lake in Florida plus the Florida Keys and the Gulf of Mexico. I used inflatable's to go fishing and lobstering and even flew a roll-up Zodiac to the Catman islands for three weeks to go scuba diving.

On average, I was replacing my inflatable every five years. I had two transom failures, almost destroying two brand new 40HP Yamaha outboards. Frequent air leaks taught me to have an air-pressure gauge and air pump nearby. I always had to be extra careful about sharp objects and bottom debris. I also found that, if left in the sun inflatable's deteriorate very rapidly. And, gasoline and other petroleum based products ate away at the glue that held the inflatable's together. It was a "love/hate" relationship; much as I enjoyed the fun I had in my inflatable's, on average, I was replacing one every five years.

But even though I was careful, I found that Mother Nature was not a friend to inflatable's. When left in the sun, they deteriorated rapidly. Plus, gasoline and petroleum based products ate away at the glue that held the boats together. But that wasn't anything compared to what happened next.

The Blow-Out

I bought a new brand named inflatable in 1995 and in December of 1996, I took it for a week's vacation in the Okefenokee Swamp in southern Georgia. I had such a good time on the trip that I decided to that my holiday card would be a photo of the Zodiac on its trailer, with Sarasota Bay in the background.

As I set up for the photo, all at once the entire seam on the port side of the inflatable simply blew out and the boat went totally flat in less than three seconds! First I was so shocked I couldn't quite believe what had happened. Then I was horrified to think that just days before I had been sitting in that boat in the far reaches of a swamp filled with water moccasins and alligators.

That's when I decided to design a better boat.

A Better, Safer Boat

After fifteen years of navigating Florida waterways in an inflatable, I started work on SEAL™ Boats USA. Now, after 10 years of research and two patents, I truly believe that SEAL™ Boats have evolved to be nearly indestructible.

While I always appreciated the physics and principles of inflatable's, I wanted to eliminate their shortcomings; I wanted to build a bullet proof boat.

I started with the idea of using all-welded construction with the finest marine aluminum metals and the best marine hardware available. (In fact, the name SEAL stands for SEA ALuminum.)

Then I filled the sponsons with two-pound Coast Guard foam flotation. That makes the boats virtually impossible to sink or take on water. In fact, during Coast Guard testing we found that even with the transom drain plug removed, a SEAL™ Boat will only submerge to the deck level of the boat. That makes it virtually impossible for the outboard engine to go under water.

Who Said Beauty Is Only Skin Deep?

I believe that SEAL™ Boats are beautiful machines that will get you where you want to go and bring you back home safely. They're not only sleek and sassy, each one is coated with marine-grade powder coating after construction. That means you can have your SEAL™ Boat in virtually any color you want. In fact, with their unique combination of design, welded seams and high gloss color, you can be sure you'll make heads turn with a SEAL™ Boat in tow.
